Turning up the tempo on the Realtime Unified Communications Community

It's time to start pulling the curtains back on some of the new things here at Realtime Unified Communications. We're still ironing out a kink here and there, but things are shaping up nicely in our new home. For those of you who only read the blog via an RSS reader, please click through every now and then to see what's here on the community site.

The blog is the front door and main page for the community, but there's more here than just that. You'll be asked to register so we can keep track of things, but registration is free and simply a mechanism to discourage spammers and people who aren't really interested in unified communications issues from spending time poking around.

The Digital Library is being built in the background right now. It will hold a variety of articles and white papers. The library isn't ready just yet, but should be within the next week.

The Community Forums are opening now. There haven't been any real visitors so far, but here's the forum areas that exist right now:

We'll add to the forums as new technologies and subjects of interest emerge. We anticipate there will be some private areas tied to sponsors we work with down the road, but the core forum areas will always be open to all and free.

I've already posted one new podcast interview with Walter Snell fro Pandora Networks. We think all the feeds to iTunes and Feedburner and the like are working for the podcasts now, but you'll see there's still a podcast tab. Podcasting won't replace the written word here, but I'll be doing more podcasts as we move forward. The VoIP ThinkTank has gotten a great response, and I'm in the process of scheduling another session with the gang along with some smaller ThinkTank conversations among those friends. Interview will continue.

Video posts? Yep, those will follow too. I don't want to subject people to my learning curve, but I'm actually self-producing a couple of training-like video shorts right now to learn how to do better do video in this environment. Like podcasting, it presents new editing and production challenges and comes with a learning curve. There will be short vlog posts, and probably some other video things ahead.

Next week, if the stars align, I hope to share both a different sort of podcast, some pictures and some  video posts from the Internet Telephony Expo in San Diego. With luck, you'll get some near-realtime content from the show.

If you only read the blog through an RSS reader, you'll get a large portion of what we're trying to deliver, but don't forget that there's more here on the site. When you're looking for resources, we want to be able to deliver.
