Hacking VoIP - A Book You Should Have on the Shelf

One of my colleagues who really doesn't get enough visibility is Ted Wallingford. Sure, Ted gets some blog visibility, but he's been so buried with his nose to the grindstone the last few months that we haven't seen enough of Ted online.

While Ted might not be blogging like mad, that just means he's busy. Today he posted a reminder

For those of you wanting to dig deeper into this wonderful world of VoIP, I suggest you check out my book, VoIP Hacks, from O’Reilly Media. Here are a few of the great hacks you’ll learn:

- Prioritize packets to improve quality
- Sound like Darth Vader while you VoIP
- Kindly introduce telemarketers to Mr. Privacy
- Sniff out jittery calls with Ethereal
- Secretly record VoIP calls

All this, and 95 other fantastic hacks, are outlined in VoIP Hacks. Check it out!

Ok, that's Ted's own pitch, but let me add a comment. I've written a book on IP Telephony, or VoIP. I've written an e-book focused entirely on Enterprise VoIP Security. Write now I'm writing another on managing converged networks. So I've got some background on VoIP.

When it comes to the rubber meeting the road, O'Reilly books are among the best and most respected. And Ted's book on VoIP hacks only strengthens O'Reilly's reputation further. If you're really into VoIP, manage a corporate network using VoIP, or just need to get inot the guts of VoIP optimization, Ted's book is a resource you can't overlook. It's one of the most useful tools I've seen. I've given a half-dozen copies to people this year and told them to read this, then call me. if you want some great hacks and tools, this is a book you need to add to your library,
