My friends over at VoIP-News have an interesting post up that caught my eye and made me think a bit about VoIP's impact.

Video and computer games have come a long way since the days of heavily pixielated characters and cheesy (however nostalgic it makes you) MIDI theme music. In contrast, today's games give players realistic avatars, believable backgrounds and the ability to use the Internet to connect to millions of other gamers all over the world. One of the best additions to this new era of gaming has been integration with VoIP, which, despite its shortcomings, has made multiplayer games more fun and exciting for many gamers. I'm not part of the active gaming generation at all. To be honest, it's just an aspect of the technology evolution that I've never really embraced. That said. the article talks about several different ways VoIP integration with gaming technologies has changed the face of gaming in general. It's a well written post that's nicely thought out. And it gives some insights into what are subtler aspects of how VoIP has impacted us.
