Gizmo Business? And your point>

My friend Alec posted this the other day -

Making The Snooze

By Alec
on Tech & Business

Am I missing something in the latest announcements from SipPhone?

I know I must be. You see, the new Gizmo project business offering
with All Calls Free for Business looks to me like nothing more than
centralized billing – an announcement about accounting.  If it’s really
an announcement about accounting that’s snooze… not news.

I agree with Alec, but beyond that, this seems such a non-event that I couldn't even muster a response agreeing with him. Then today I see it all over RSS feeds again. Frankly, the announcement is something to read if you're suffering from insomnia. I see a nothing, non-event.

So what the heck are people seeing that we're missing here?

Ken, this is parallel to Skype's business offering, which is probably the benchmark at the moment. At least Gizmo's release is surrounded by integration to Asterisk, a true business solution.

Rick - I agree this is analogous to Skype for business. I just don't see anything very newsworthy in either. You're right that Gizmo's Asterisk integration adds some value. It just seems like an announcement for the sake of announcing something without much substance.
