VoIPSec resource
Among the many sources I read, I value the VOIPSEC mailing list. There are a number of questions and conversations that come up in there that I don't see broached anywhere else. Dan York, who does the excellent BlueBox Podcast series posted this and I think it's worth sharing.
VOIPSEC members,
If you are relatively new to the world of VoIP security and looking for a general overview of the issues, threats, best practices, etc., I recently posted as part of the Blue Box podcast feed the audio recording and slides from a presentation I did a few weeks ago at the "IP Telephony for Government" conference in Arlington, VA . This conference was sponsored by the Homeland Defense Journal and IT*Training magazine and had about 100 participants from various US federal government, state government and military agencies. There were a number of speakers on various issues related to VoIP and I was there to give an overview of the security issues. You can visit:
http://www.blueboxpodcast.com/2006/05/blue_box_podcas.html to download the MP3 file and/or the PDF of the slides. You can also simply click the "Play" button and listen directly from the web page (as long as you then don't navigate away from the web page in your browser). Or you can simply download the MP3 file and play it on your PC in whatever music program you use (or on whatever portable MP3 player you use).
If you are already a subscriber to the Blue Box podcast feed, you don't have to do anything as you already received the MP3 file for this presentation last week.
Dan's one of those people I count among the excellent and credible resources who I read and listen to. If you haven't already added his work to your resource list, I encourage you to do so. And this podcast is time well spent and worth listening to.
