Coming Attractions - Interviews, Articles, Podcasts, and perhaps a SkypeCast

Things have been busy around the Realtime VoIP Community, and there are several new things coming in the next few weeks. It seemed like a good day for an update

I received email over a week ago regarding a company I've since been reading about a little bit, Spirit DSP. They're a bit different in the VoIP space. Their real focus seems to be on the embedded voice experience.  Their ideas in web conferencing and collaboration, and in VoIP over WiFi (VOWLAN) are pretty interesting. I have a bit more reading to do to shape my own thoughts on how they're of interest to the enterprise market in evolving VoIP services, but then I hope to coordinate an interview with them and share more information.

Today I received an email from one of the folks on the Skylook team. I must confess that at first glance, given all the opinions I've stated on Skype in enterprise networks, I'm not sure where the fit is here. But their solution does bring some interesting convergence between Skype and Outlook. Given Outlook's penetration in business, Skylook may warrant some serious thought. And it may be very useful for the SMB market within the grouping that's using Skype for business communications. I'll be testing the application and doing some further research, which I'll share here.

Speaking of Skype, the recent 2.5 release brough some interesting new features. Skypecasts look to be an interesting new tool, and I'd like to solicit your comments. A Skypecast might make an interesting next episode for the VoIP ThinkTank podcast group. We'll kick that around amongst ourselves and see if that makes sense. But what anout the Realtime VoIP Community members, and readers here on the VoIP Conversation? Would you be interested in joining a roundtable discussion of some sort via a Skypecast? In particular, I was thinking if there's interest, I might host a Sunday morning coffee chat. Would any of you be interested in joining just to share in some conversation with other folks inovlved in VoIP and related technologies? Please let me know via comments here. If there's some interest, we'll give it a try.

I'll put another podcast online in the next week. Several interesting things to mention and the podcasts seem to be gaining more popularity. I've mentioned the idea of podcasting a conversation with Steve Shepard, friend and author of several books, inlcuding a recent IMS Crash Course through McGraw-Hill. Steve keeps a pretty busy schedule, but I'm working to coordinate a time where we can chat and record some of his thoughts to share here.

And once again, is there something you'd like to see here? Know of an industry interview you'd like to hear? Someone you'd like to gain insight from? Feel free to leave comments and I'll do what I can to go pull someone in for a conversation.
