A partial QoS approach for SMBs

I recently spotted this intriguing tool for the SMB segment of business, but didn't really have a chance to look closer until now.

Firewall Software offers bandwidth limiter to SMBs.

April 24, 2006 - WinRoute Firewall v6.2 includes Bandwidth Limiter, which acts as Quality of Service device that slows down Internet connection for heavy traffic users to make space for bandwidth-sensitive applications such as VoIP. Program scans VPN, web, FTP, and email traffic for viruses as it enters and leaves network. With WinRoute Firewall, users can simultaneously utilize both integrated McAfee Antivirus engine as well as any supported 3rd party anti-virus software packages.

Kerio WinRoute Firewall Offers Bandwidth Limiter to SMBs in New Version
Kerio WinRoute Firewall 6.2 throttles precious Internet bandwidth and introduces dual-antivirus gateway protection

Kerio WinRoute Firewall's new Bandwidth Limiter acts as a simple Quality of Service (QoS) device that slows down Internet connection for heavy traffic users to make space for bandwidth-sensitive applications such as VoIP. Individual bandwidth hogs are thus unable to cripple the network's resources with large file downloads or uploads. Bandwidth Limiter also allows network administrators to configure daily or monthly quotas for bandwidth usage.
Implementing QoS is often viewed as a daunting task for large enterprises. The SMB sector has often been left to fend for themselves. Their network resources all too often don't allow for practical implementation of QoS techniques easily. This may offer a solution that lets something as simple as rate limiting of the bandwidth enable a measure of QoS for SMBs.
