Whether you call it CEBP or SaaS, it's here in growth mode

I can't count the number of times I've written or talked about Communications Enhanced Business Processes (CEBP) in the past year. For many the term Software as a Service (SaaS) still prevails, but I don't really count the two as different. They're different ways of marketing the same thing.

Forrester calls it CEBP and Gartner calls it SaaS, but they're talking about the same general trend. Here's a post colleague Gary Kim wrote that caught my eye -

No SaaS Slowdown

Worldwide software-as-a-service revenue in the enterprise application markets is on pace to surpass $6.4 billion in 2008, a 27 per cent increase from 2007 revenue of $5.1 billion, according to Gartner, Inc. The market is expected to more than double with SaaS revenue reaching $14.8 billion in 2012.
Gartner analysts say the adoption of SaaS is growing and evolving within the enterprise application markets as new entrants challenge incumbents, popularity increases, and interest for platform as a service grows, despite the challenging economic climate.

The bottom line is that while some bemoan stagnation in the communications environment. for the aggressive providers working to deliver real value, trends are good and picking up. Forecasts are for growth and ongoing success. Now's the time to act, not sit and wring your hands about tough times.
