Video - It really is moving into Unified Communications

I've been watching video solutions evolve quickly over the past few months. There are several worth watching.

  • SightSpeed - I've been watching these guys for about two years now. Definitely worth a look for personal and small business video.
  • Skype - Their recent high quality video is just that. For those of us who really tried Skype's earlier video solution, the improvement is truly phenomenal.
  • Hictu - Delivers and interesting Twitter integration that makes for conversational social video snips.
  • Seesmic - Threaded social conversations gone video. Seesmic is in beta right now and not generally available, but presents a neat look at the next generation of how we'll use video. (See sample)

In the next few months, we can expect to see new features like audio and video commenting on blogs become a normal feature. It something I've been experimenting with in other places and will make the conversational aspect of blogs and the web more powerful than ever.
