A status report and update from Ken

This isn't a technology post. It's a life post as much as anything. It's an update. Think of it as a status report of sorts.

For those of you who don't read my friend Hugh MacLeod's blog, Gaping Void, I need to set the stage. Hugh isn't someone I think of as a technologist. He's a cartoonist. I think he's worked in the advertising business. He works some in the PR field. He's a human. A thinker. Something of a philosopher when he lets himself be that. I don't always agree with Hugh's viewpoints. But his viewpoints often make me think. And when he's on target, every shot is a near-bullseye.

So with tip of the hat to Hugh, and this cartoon of his, I'll give you an update of sorts.

Ive had some life-changing events in the last 2-3 months that have set me on a new course. They've also re-energized me toward some things I'd wanted to do but set aside. Like Hugh's cartoon would indicate, I've been in a cycle of re-invention for myself.

As I started writing this last night, I've also been working on my 2007 year end look at things and it set me to thinking about our industry. I think our industry is also in need of some re-invention in some ways. I hope to post my look at the 2007 highlights and lowlights with some thoughts to the future something late this evening or tomorrow. Re-invention seems an appropriate theme upon which to wrap up this year.
