Voice Applications on Facebook

I've been swamped lately with a number of different projects, but Facebook is one tool I sue to stay in touch with friends and colleagues. I find it's becoming a very useful networking tool for both social and business purposes. Since they integrated applications into Facebook, there has been an explosion off new apps. Many have been frivolous and utterly useless. In fact. I think the consensus is that more have been garbage than have proven useful if we simply look at raw numbers.

Stuart Henshall posted a couple of links demonstrating his view that VoIP apps are failing on Facebook. To my surprise, the post led to some inference that iotum's solution fit in that failing model. Naturally, another friend, Alec Saunders at iotum responded with his own observation that indeed Some VoIP applications ARE failing on Facebook!

It's an interesting problem because Facebook is fraught with garbage applications. Useless drivel. But voice applications, what I like to call click-to-converge solutions that let Facebook users do interesting voice oriented things seem to be on the rise. One the rise in number and improving in usefulness.

I'm not sure I know the bottom line view Stuart holds, but I tend to side with Alce in the vie that Facebook is becoming am ore powerful tool every day, and part of the reason is that we're now seeing solid, usable applications that serve a business purpose.

I am completlely lost. My link had no reference to IOTUM. Alec did pick up the link. The original author of the linked to post put Iotum in there.

This siding with Alec is crap. There are no sides here. The data has been updated by both Alec and Om.

VoIP apps are failing the Facebook test! Learning — nobody uses a Facebook widget to make a voice connection. There are many reasons for this. It is time for some new innovations.
