Covad Wireless Powers Office 2.0 Conference
I'm not able to participate in the Office 2.0 conference this year, but am trying to follow vicariously through my pal Marc Orchant. I wish I could be there.
Because I'm part of the Covad Blogger Relations program, I learned today about a new way Covad Wireless is keeping people connected. I don't have the wireless service, but I do have a Covad T-1 for testing.
Covad Wireless has in only a matter of days provisioned, delivered and deployed high-capacity fixed broadband wireless service for the Office 2.0 Conference, that's underway in San Francisco this week. Office 2.0 attendees will be able to connect there just like they do at home, work or on the road thanks to Covad.
This really is a dramatic departure from how traditional broadband providers bring wireless to conference attendees. If you've ever been involved in that, it can take weeks or even months to set up with limited bandwidth and high implementation costs. It's a real challenge for conference organizers.
I've had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Eric Weiss, Covad's chief marketing officer. He's one of the speakers at the Office 2.0 conference . I wish I could sit in that session, because Covad has a very powerful vision of what's coming in service delivery.

Official event sponsor is providing 30 Mbps broadband service
SAN JOSE, Calif.-Sept. 6, 2007-Covad Wireless, a subsidiary of Covad Communications Group, Inc. (AMEX: DVW), a leading national provider of integrated voice and data communications, is providing high-capacity fixed broadband wireless service and serving as an official sponsor for the Office 2.0 Conference, taking place September 5-7 in San Francisco.
"Covad is excited to support the organizers and attendees of the Office 2.0 Conference by delivering 30 megabits of Internet connectivity," said Eric Weiss, Covad chief marketing officer and a speaker at today's session. "More and more businesses are moving to Web-based 2.0 applications that require a high-bandwidth connection. Covad is able to meet that demand with high-speed broadband services that offer higher bandwidth capabilities and much shorter installation cycles than traditional telecommunications providers can provide."
The Office 2.0 Conference is a collective experiment organized every year in San Francisco aimed at discovering the future of online productivity and collaboration. It is a unique gathering of visionaries, thought leaders and customers who are using innovative online services for getting things done at the office, at home and on the go. This year, every attendee to the Office 2.0 Conference (press excluded) will receive an iPhone. By gathering more than 500 people using the exact same mobile device, the event organizers hope to learn about user interfaces, workflows and usage patterns for mobile online applications. The organizers' goal is to turn the Office 2.0 Conference into one of the largest ever-attempted experiments on mobile productivity and collaboration.
"We are very proud to have Covad as a sponsor for this year's event," said Ismael Ghalimi, lead organizer of the Office 2.0 Conference. "In our search for a high-quality network for this year's event, we found that no company could match Covad's ability to provide high-bandwidth wireless service and provision it in a matter of days."
Covad is an expert in providing high-quality, high-speed Internet access for special events such as the Office 2.0 Conference.
