CompTIA Extends Global Presence with Opening of New Office in Bratislava, Slovakia

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., July 5, 2007– The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), the leading trade association for the world’s information technology (IT) industry, announced today the opening of its newest office in Bratislava, Slovakia.

With the opening of the office in Slovakia’s capital city, CompTIA now has offices and representatives in 16 locations around the world. These offices support regions that account for over 97 percent of the world’s IT industry.

“A growing number of our members are outside the United States, which shows the global pervasiveness of IT and the global reach of CompTIA,” said John Venator, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA. “We are located where the IT industry itself needs us to be.”

The information and communications technology industry is among the most dynamic sectors in Europe’s economy, accounting for nearly 8 percent of gross domestic product and 6 percent of employment in the European Union.

“Growth in our industry is being spurred both by consumers with increased spending power to invest in personal technology; and by businesses that rely on technology to keep them competitive in regional and global markets,” said Robert Kramer, vice president, public policy, CompTIA. “But growth opportunities are often accompanied by challenges, such as government regulatory issues and the need for workers with technology skills. CompTIA is expanding its presence in Europe to help our members and the industry to address these issues.”

CompTIA has its headquarters in suburban Chicago, and maintains offices in Beijing, Bratislava, Brussels, Düsseldorf, Dubai, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, London, Melbourne, New Delhi, Sao Paulo, Sydney, Tokyo, Toronto, and Washington, D.C.

About CompTIA
In 2007, the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Just as the IT industry it serves has grown, CompTIA has also enjoyed remarkable growth over the past 25 years. The organization was founded by representatives of five micro-computer dealerships working together to find better ways to do business. Today, CompTIA has more than 22,000 member companies in over 100 countries around the world; and serves as the voice of the world’s $1 trillion-plus IT industry. CompTIA is committed to advancing the long-term success and growth of the IT industry by helping organizations maximize the benefits they receive from their investments in technology; and by helping individuals to obtain the skills and credentials they need for productive careers in IT.
