O'Reilly Update

Posting hasn't been what I'd hoped. That's not for lack of material. There is more material coming in faster than I can share it. Here's what's coming and who I have stories about:

  • David Beckemeyer, aka MRBlog. David's the genius behind PhoneGnome. He and I go back a number of years in email, but this is the first time we ever really got to sit in person and talk. We've always been ships in the night, unable to do more than shake hands and hope for time. I spent a good half-hour chatting with him yesterday and it's recorded and will be coming as a podcast as soon as I can do the audio work and get it loaded.
  • I met Trevor Baca and them team behind Jaduka and I have to say they impressed me. I recorded it, but the recording isn't usable. So I'll be doing a writeup on them and setting up another podcast conversation in the near future.
  • I met with Moshe Maeir from Flat Planet and gained a better appreciation of their story. Blog post to follow.
  • This morning I took video of Tero OjanPero from Nokia's presentation on the N93. It's a 22 minute video that I'll get uploaded and posted as soon as I can.
  • Today I met with Jim Heising at Telephony2. I think they've got a great story and an interesting small business solution that I'll be testing. They're an hour from me, so look for more on them.
  • I met with Frederik Hermann from Jajah today. Again, gained a better understanding and I'll tell you a bit more about them from my viewpoint, which differs from many blog posts. I'm looking to their future, not their present.
  • This afternoon I met with Dave Hersh from Jive Software. They do some really great stuff with content management and just announced and unleashed some collaboration and integreation stuff I want to share. They're a bit south of me in Portland. We didn't do a podcast, but I'm thinking we'll post first,  then maybe instead of a podcast, I'll do a field trip to visit them and we'll do podcast and video from the road. That will be something new.
  • I recorded Jeff Bonforte from Yahoo this afternoon. Jeff's a friend and great presenter. I'm hoping to catch him to post his recording as a podcast. Jeff, if you catch this, let me know. I'll just post if I can't connect with you.
  • I also recorded 95% of a Voice 2.0 panel this afternoon. I had to leave so I didn't get the last question or two, but I got most of it and will podcast it too.
Lots of material. Lots going on. Great event. I'll be wandering the halls at the Exhibit and evening event with camera and recorder in an hour. Then we have a bloggers and friends dinner tonight that will have a goodly number of people present (40 or so). That will run late and then tomorrow's a conference wrap up with more sessions and briefings and air travel. So stay tuned. There's definitely more coming.

Events like these are always social events where friends get to gather. Here's a picture of Om and I at the reception after his LaunchPad event last night.
