VoIP ThinkTank #2

The second episode of the VoIP ThinkTank round-table podcast discussions is now available online. In this conversation recorded June 5. 2006, I'm joined by Andy  Abramson, Alec Saunders, Martin Geddes,Ted Wallingford, and Dameon Welch-Abernathy (aka Phoneboy).

In this inital episode we wrap up reviewing a couple of points from Ted Wallingford's recent Mini-white paper: Overcoming cultural challenges to the VoIP revolution. One point listener may notice we skipped over was the issue of interoperablity. You'll hear today that we've agreed interoperablity is an issue we believe may warrant a full podcast discussion.

As we'll always strive to accomplish, you're hearing the real-world VoIP technology we used for the podcast. We think it's important that listeners experience the wide array of good and not so good VoIP experiences. Today we used Gizmo from the talented folks at SIP Phone as the primary communications software. Gizmo is a great SIP compliant software package that's gaining popularity. Our bridge technology used today is the fabulous new service that's in beta on Radio Handi from Brian McConnell and the great team at Open Communications Systems. One great benefit of Radio Handi is that it provides a fully SIP compliant integration component complete with SIP URL. That means you can use any SIP softphone. Watch for some great things at Radio Handi from Brian and team. He's shared some of their plans with me and I'm hoping to get him to join me for a podcast interview soon.
