AGITO NETWORKS DELIVERS NEXT-GENERATION ENTERPRISE MOBILITY WITH ITS LOCATION-AWARE ROAMANYWHERE MOBILITY ROUTER

The past 2-3 months I've really been focused on fixed mobile convergence issues. That's led me to a number of companies I didn't really know well. One such company is Agito Networks. Founded and led by industry experts in the areas of WiFi, cellular, telephony and mobile operating systems, Agito Networks has introduced the industry’s first Mobility Router, the Agito Networks RoamAnywhere Mobility Router. This innovative, patent-pending solution represents the next generation of enterprise mobility products for enterprises seeking the promise of improved productivity and cost savings from enterprise fixed mobile convergence (eFMC). Agito Networks’ RoamAnywhere is the industry’s first and only business mobile convergence platform that uses RF-based, location-aware technologies to best mobilize voice and data applications, while remaining agnostic to enterprise customers’ choices of mobile carriers and equipment vendors.

Today Agito Networks announced the availability of their award-winning RoamAnywhere
Mobility Router, the next generation of enterprise fixed mobile
convergence (eFMC) products.  The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router is the industry’s
first and only business mobile convergence platform that uses RF-based,
location-aware technologies to reliably mobilize and enable voice over wireless
LANs and data applications, while remaining agnostic to enterprise customers’
choices of mobile carriers and equipment vendors.  It uniquely fuses wireless
LANs, enterprise IP telephony, and the carrier cellular network, improving
accessibility and responsiveness to increase mobile worker productivity, while
reducing cellular expenses.  Today’s announcement is pasted below.

My schedule has been crazy and as yet I haven't had a chance to set up a briefing podcast, but I'll be working closely with Dan Spalding, Agito's Director of Marketing to get something set up in the next few weeks.
AGITO NETWORKS DELIVERS NEXT-GENERATION ENTERPRISE MOBILITY WITH ITS LOCATION-AWARE ROAMANYWHERE MOBILITY ROUTER
Available Earlier this Year, RoamAnywhere Fuses Enterprise WLANs, IP Telephony with Cellular Networks to Increase Mobile Worker Productivity and Reduce Cellular Expenses

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Feb. 20, 2008 – Agito Networks, Inc.Ô, a company pioneering new technology in enterprise mobility, today announced the availability of the next generation of enterprise fixed mobile convergence (eFMC) products – the award-winning RoamAnywhereÔ Mobility Router (http://www.agitonetworks.com/products). The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router is the industry’s first and only business mobile convergence platform that uses RF-based, location-aware technologies to reliably mobilize and enable voice over 802.11 wireless LANs (VoWLAN) and data applications, while remaining agnostic to enterprise customers’ choices of mobile carriers and equipment vendors.

Agito Networks uniquely fuses 802.11 wireless LANs (WLANs), enterprise IP telephony, and the carrier cellular network, improving accessibility and responsiveness to increase mobile worker productivity. Agito’s innovative, patent-pending location-aware technology allows enterprises to mobilize voice by taking full advantage of their 802.11 WLAN deployments as a low-cost alternative to cellular networks for in-building enterprise mobility. Leveraging voice over WLAN (VoWLAN) enables enterprises to reduce cellular expenses by as much as 60 percent, and avoid deploying costly, carrier-specific equipment to address poor cellular coverage. To ensure a seamless user experience, the RoamAnywhere Mobility Router provides fast, automatic handover between the enterprise WiFi networks and any carrier cellular network.

The Mobility Router extends enterprise desk phone features to the mobile phones, by natively integrating into existing corporate PBXes. This increases mobile worker productivity by helping them become more accessible anywhere inside and outside the office. With Agito Networks, PBX features – including a single number reachability, unified caller ID, a single enterprise voicemail for desk phone and mobile phone, extension (short) dialing, hold, transfer, and corporate directory lookups – are extended to mobile phones.

According to Gartner, Inc., “By 2011, 65% of enterprise employees globally will have only one phone number. This number will go direct to a mobile service or via a converged solution on to the device of choice, whether fixed or mobile. Enterprise cellular phone use has been driving fixed mobile substitution (displacing wired telephony with wireless), and the relative use of mobile at the expense of the traditional fixed line is significant also in the corporate segment.”1

With more workers relying on their mobile phones as their primary business phone, challenges such as poor in-building coverage, rising cellular costs, lack of corporate control and visibility over cellular usage, and meager integration options for heterogeneous enterprise environments are impacting mobile worker productivity and challenging IT departments.

The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router is unlike any enterprise mobility solution seen to date. The patent-pending, RF-based location aware technology ensures that in-building calls stay on the enterprise WLAN (using VoWLAN) to reduce cellular expenses and eliminate dropped or poor quality calls. Agito’s patent pending sub-second, automatic handover of calls between WiFi and cellular is transparent to users. Agito’s solution gives IT administrators the confidence to roll out VoWLAN across their enterprise, knowing the user experience will be as good as their wired phones, and that they can significantly reduce cellular expenses.

The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router also delivers another industry first – location-aware mobile policies. The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router’s policy engine mobilizes once static policies to be applied and enforced dynamically based on users’ locations. These location-aware policies automatically adapt to where the user is, including the office, work and home. With dynamic and adaptive policies, users are no longer required to remember to manually switch profiles on their mobile phones, simplifying their mobility experience.

The Agito Networks solution is designed to be simple to deploy in enterprises of all sizes. Provisioning users and dual-mode handsets, including Windows Mobile and Nokia/Symbian dual-mode phones, is streamlined by native integration with Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP directories, combined with simple, over-the-air client provisioning. The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router, a turnkey network appliance, enables rapid deployment with an intuitive web user interface and – unlike other solutions – requires no RF, WiFi, or cellular tuning.

Agito Networks’ RoamAnywhere solution’s hybrid, non-blocking architecture scales to thousands of users by following the industry best-practice of separating control traffic from data/voice traffic. This hybrid architecture reduces appliance load and overhead, while providing high response times and high application availability. Distributed routing and policy enforcement across the appliance and the mobile handset enable reliable, stable, and secure operations.

The RoamAnywhere Mobility router has two models available for maximum deployment flexibility, and to suit the needs of enterprises of all sizes. The 2000 Series RoamAnywhere Mobility Router scales up to 100 simultaneous users for small to medium enterprises, or for enterprise branch or remote sites. The 4000 Series RoamAnywhere Mobility Router scales up to 1000 simultaneous users for medium to large enterprises, as well for as global deployments.

“It’s been a lot of work between Agito, our partners and early end users, and we are proud to announce the commercial availability of the Agito Networks RoamAnywhere Mobility Router, the next evolution of enterprise mobility products,” said Pejman Roshan, Agito Networks vice president of marketing and a company founder. “We’ve taken a lot of input from customers in developing the product, and have done the extra work to extract the complexity out of deploying an enterprise mobility solution. Our technology advancements enable enterprises to mobilize their workforce with confidence, and do it while reducing mobile expenses.”

Pricing and Availability
Pricing for the RoamAnywhere solution starts at approximately $10,000 for the 2000 Series and $28,000 for the 4000 Series. It is available today directly from Agito Networks and through leading channel partners. Contact Agito Networks at http://www.agitonetworks.com for more information.
