New Free Service on the Horizon from MOBIVOX

MOBIVOX is about to launch an exciting new service just in time for the holidays. They gave me a chance to look at a preview today. This new service free service is called GiftVOX. GiftVOX is the first application of its kind that allows users to pre-register other users for phone service.

You'll be able to sign up friends and family members online for MOBIVOX. You create their contact list online, so all they need to do is call a local MOBIVOX access number and say the name of the person they want to call to be connected.

I have to confess that I'm a bit skeptical. If someone created a service, signed me up, and created a contact list for me, I think I'd react badly. I think time will tell, but I see large potential for a backfire here myself. I'll explore and see what I really think as we watch it unfold.

Here’s why they say it’s cool:

  • This is the first application that allows users to pre-register friends and family. So Grandma and Grandpa don’t have to figure out complicated instructions, dial access codes or download anything. They just dial a local access number from their landline or mobile phones.
  • The pre-registration capability builds on the already solid viral component of MOBIVOX. The ease of use of GiftVOX will increase the user base as well as give current users more reason to remain active.
  • Thanks to its simplicity and ease of use, GiftVOX appeals to the tech savvy, the tech-challenged and everyone in between.
GiftVOX is going to launch on Thursday, Dec. 6. I'm not including the screenshot here, but if you're intrigued by this, keep on eye on things at MOBIVOX at www.mobivox.com . There will be a GiftVOX tab to sign up your contacts. I'll try to find some time to go explore and experiment a bit. Come Thursday, you may want to do the same.
