Here's some news on what Nokia Siemens is doing in Serbia.

Nokia Siemens Networks to extend GSM and 3G WCDMA network for Telekom Srbija Mobile arm

Espoo, Finland – July 30, 2007

The leading Serbian mobile operator has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks for the supply and implementation of its GSM network extensions and 3G WCDMA network with HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) functionality and associated services.

Nokia Siemens Networks started the deliveries in July, allowing Telekom Srbija to expand its mobile broadband network and to offer advanced and differentiating 3G WCDMA (Wideband Code-Division Multiple Access) services to its more than 5 million customers. The contract is the result of a successful partnership with Telekom Srbija.

It covers equipment delivery and installation, commissioning and integration of the system, comprising such solutions as a high speed radio network, next generation mobile core equipment and an extension of the prepaid system. The contract also will consolidate Nokia Siemens Networks’ leadership position in the Serbian market as well as in other South-East European countries in which Telekom Srbija operates.

"We are long-term partners and this contract is a further recognition of our successful cooperation. We have faith that our cooperation will be even more fruitful in the future and that the merger of Siemens and Nokia will continue to bring us many exciting and industry-leading products and services", says Vladimir Lučić, Telekom Srbija Mobile Division Director.
The tailor made package includes 3G radio and core equipment (Mobile Softswitching solution consisting of MSC Servers and Media Gateways) as well as an extension of the prepaid system. Due to this fact, Telekom Srbija can continue to offer new and advanced GSM and 3G WCDMA services to its customers and will be able to further increase network capacity.

“As a significant regional operator, with expansion potential, Telekom Srbija is one of our key partners. We are very pleased that Telekom Srbija has recognized Nokia Siemens Networks as a reliable partner, ready to offer future-proof technologies completely in line with their long-term plans and fulfilling all their needs. I am sure we will be able to meet this challenge and justify the trust placed in us,” says Dietmar Appeltauer, Head of the Sub-Region Central East Europe of Nokia Siemens Networks.
