Nokia N95 performance update
I've seen several comments from a number of people about the Nokia N95 battery life. In my experience, they're very kind.
First, I turned off UMTS because I don't have it available here. I also turn off the WiFi scanning to maximize battery life. I do leave Bluetooth on for pairing with the N800.
Today, what I learned, is that in standby mode, without a single phone call, just taking a few pictures, I get 90 minutes of battery life. That's it, 90 minutes.
I'll be digging in to the issue more deeply, but frankly, if I can't get a day of battery life out of this one, it will go back in the box. I'm concerned that I'd lose battery in a one hour conference call, and I do plenty of those.
I will be sharing so photos and video shot with the N95 that are a bit different from some other folks' pictures, but that simply evaluates the camera. It isn't a holistic view of the device.
At this point, I have to say I remain very unimpressed with the total package. Between battery life and memory management issues, the only person who would find it useful is a geek willing to muck about constantly. And not stray too far frmo a power outlet.
It sure isn't something I'd recommend to my mother or any other non-technical user from what I've seen.
