BridgePort Networks’ IMS Voice Call Handover between GSM and Wi-Fi Networks Now Supported by 15 Handsets
I mentioned the other day that I'm expecting some news from BridgePort Networks over the next week or so. Here's the first press release announcing at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, that 15 current GSM/Wi-Fi or UMTS/Wi-Fi dual mode handsets are interoperable and support seamless voice call handover between networks with BridgePort Networks' NomadicONE product family. In addition, at the current time, five more devices are planned to be supported during 2007. The list of interoperability partners addresses dual mode handsets from 3 of the top 4 global handset suppliers. Current partners include, but are not limited to: E28, Paragon Wireless, PCTEL and PicoMobile.
Many of these devices are being demonstrated at the 3GSM World Congress by BridgePort Networks' partners, either publicly or in private meetings.
BridgePort Networks’ IMS Voice Call Handover between GSM and Wi-Fi Networks Now Supported by 15 Handsets
BARCELONA – 12 February 2007 - BridgePort Networks, the leader in MobileVoIP convergence, announced gathering momentum in its Device Developers’ Program.
At last year’s 3GSM World Congress, the company showcased the world’s first live IMS seamless voice call handover between GSM and Wi-Fi networks, compliant with the technical requirements for 3GPP’s Voice Call Continuity standard (VCC).
Later, on May 31, 2006, the company formally launched its Developers’ Program for Fixed-Mobile Convergence Device and Client Software Vendors, to help speed interoperability of dual mode cellular-Wi-Fi handsets with BridgePort Networks’ NomadicONE core network product family for both pre-IMS and IMS networks that implements seamless handover.
Today BridgePort Networks is announcing that 15 current GSM/Wi-Fi or UMTS/Wi-Fi dual mode handsets are interoperable and support seamless voice call handover between networks with the NomadicONE product family. Additionally at the current time, five more devices are planned to be supported during 2007.
