Orative Grabbed by Cisco for $31M

Thanks to Irwin Lazar, I caught this story. As some readers will recall, I interviewed Sundepep Gupta, Orative's Director of Product Management and Marketing in a podcast and written article here last June. Their approach to fixed mobile convergence through the Orative Enterprise Server looked to be a very sound approach. I see this as a smart move for Cisco, and a good deal for Orative. Now the question is whether Cisco will do a clean job of integrating Orative's solution into the large unified communications fold. Cisco is serious about unified communications.

The deal is expected to close in Q2 2007.

Cisco acquires Orative for $31 million

Cisco continued its buying spree by announcing Thursday it will acquire privately held Orative, a mobile telephony software company, for $31 million in cash.

Orative, of San Jose, develops conferencing and collaboration software for mobile business users, and integrates those tools with users' existing communications systems.
