Huawei Licenses TeamSpirit® Voice Engine PC and Names SPIRIT as a Key Partner

Spirit DSP is one of those realitively quiet companies leading the way into the next generation of unified communications technologies and voice services that I watch from the sidelines. They're done a lot of really interesting things in 2007 and been one of the unheralded bright lights in the industry. Here's news about another company, Huawei, licensing Spirit's technology.

Huawei Licenses TeamSpirit® Voice Engine PC and Names SPIRIT as a Key Partner
China's Largest Provider of Next Generation Telecommunications Networks Turns to SPIRIT's IMS-ready PC VoIP Software

Moscow - December 10, 2007 - SPIRIT DSP, the world's leading provider of voice and video software engines, announced today that Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (Huawei), a leading provider of next-generation telecommunications network solutions to operators around the world, has licensed SPIRIT's TeamSpirit® 3.0 Voice Engine PC to offer the highest quality PC VoIP solution to its operator and service provider customers.
Global telecom solutions provider Huawei Technologies is one of the fastest growing suppliers of mainstream Next Generation Network (NGN) solutions in the world, serving 31 of the world's top 50 operators. Products and solutions of Huawei are deployed in over 100 countries and serve over one billion users worldwide. Being the top Chinese telecoms gear maker, Huawei expects contract sales to come in at US $16 billion this year, beating the company's previous target by nearly 7 percent, thanks to fast growth in overseas markets

Selection of TeamSpirit Voice Engine PC by Huawei advances the adoption and widespread deployment of embedded Internet Telephony over IP networks for IMS/NGN. SPIRIT software enables broadband operators and service providers to quickly offer their subscribers an easy PC-download with a rich voice experience, backed by unprecedented quality and reliability.

Alex Kravchenko, VP Sales & Marketing at SPIRIT DSP, said "Huawei's choice underscores the enormous demand for wideband VoIP. TeamSpirit Voice Engine PC is backed by award-winning proprietary technology that offers unprecedented quality. We are proud to partner with such a significant player in the global market to help operators to attract new customers and deliver new exciting, rich, interactive, multimedia services on market demand."

At Huawei the IMS Summit, which took place in Beijing during PT/EXPO 2007 show in November 2007, Huawei listed SPIRIT among its key partners. The list of key partnerships included IBM, HP, Broadsoft and about ten other major players of the telecom industry.

TeamSpirit® 3.0 Voice Engine PC is a part of SPIRIT's complete, pre-integrated IMS-ready solution TeamSpirit® 3.0 Voice&Video Engine PC which encapsulates wideband voice and video processing to offer the smoothest video and voice integration experience for NGN services and applications. Thanks to unique SPIRIT proprietary technology, the engine successfully solves all the issues encountered in V2oIP communications, including voice and video lips sync.

The TeamSpirit® engine seamlessly bundles standard and proprietary wideband voice and video codecs, acoustic echo and noise cancellation, packet loss concealment, adaptive jitter buffer and network optimizing functionality, voice/video synchronization, all standard telephony protocols, CPU load control and more, allowing fast and easy integration into complex products designed to deliver low-latency voice and video over IP. The engine supports next generation IMS features: 3gp voice/video sharing, voice/video recording, 3gp playback/record, RTSP/SDP protocols, push-to-talk, etc, and is optimized for Microsoft® Windows® 98/2K/XP/Vista, Apple® Mac OSR X, and Linux, among other operating systems.
