Nokia Siemens continues to make strides in delivering service globally. Here's a new release about how they're providing broadband services in Moscow.

Russian carrier MGTS awards Nokia Siemens Networks broadband access contract

Espoo, Finland / Moscow,Russian Federation - October 4, 2007

Nokia Siemens Networks and Moscow City Telephone Network (MGTS) have signed a contract for delivery of broadband access equipment (DSLAM) to expand MGTS packet transmission network

Under the contract Nokia Siemens Networks will supply DSLAM equipment of 400 000 ports capacity to MGTS. The DSLAM equipment provides access for subscribers to MGTS’ packet transmission network. The equipment will be delivered in October 2007. Work on the network is expected to be completed by the end of 2007.

The solution is based on the IP DSLAM SURPASS hiX 5635 equipped with ADSL2+ modules.

“MGTS constantly works to improve its data transmission network, which allows providing broadband Internet access services of high quality”, said the general director’s deputy, Victor Alekhin, from MGTS. “We expect subscriber growth, especially after the beginning of sales of services under our own brand, therefore we increase the installed base."

“This fourth contract we have won from MGTS shows Nokia Siemens Networks is a reliable partner who understands its customers’ business and has the technological know-how to offer a product customized to their varying requirements,” says Martin Lüst, head of Broadband Access, Nokia Siemens Networks.
