Aethera NetworksTM Expands Distribution Network in Latin America
Global sales reach further-extended as international growth strategy gains momentum

Montreal, Canada, July 25, 2007
- Aethera NetworksTM, a globally focused company delivering agile solutions for multi-service access, edge aggregation and wireless backhaul networking, announced today the addition of three (3) new Value Added Resellers (VARs) who will distribute the company’s AEGIS-VTM product portfolio in key Latin American territories. The AEGIS-V platform includes the MEF-certified AEX-200TM micro-footprint multi-service Switching/Provisioning Platform (uMSxP), the AEX-50TM converged access appliance, and the AEX-150TM passive optical networking (PON) C/DWDM unit.

The recently appointed VARs are recognized distributors in their respective countries, each with over 15 years of established clientele that include a significant base of leading Latin American wireless, cable MSO and telecom service providers. With this recent distribution expansion, Aethera Networks’ products will be represented in Brazil by AGC Netcom, in Uruguay by Melcox, S.A., and in Argentina by Planex Telecomunicaciones.

“Latin America represents a key international market for our AEGIS-VTM solutions, optimized to facilitate the transition from legacy TDM networks to converged, Carrier Ethernet networks delivering scalable residential triple-play, multi-service business access and 3G/4G mobile services,” stated Juan-Felipe Gonzalez, Sr. Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Aethera Networks, “As we continue to implement our aggressive international growth strategy, experienced VARs such as Melcox, Planex Telecomunicaciones and AGC Netcom ensure our Latin American clients will benefit from the same world-class expertise and support Aethera Networks has provided for over 12 years.”

“Carrier Ethernet adoption has accelerated to full-scale deployments in Brazil. We expect this network evolution to continue for the next several years, responding to the demands of VoIP, HDTV, peer-to-peer bandwidth usage and increased use of Web 2.0 applications,” explained Jonah Trunk, President of AGC Netcom, Brazil, adding “Aethera Networks’ products address service providers’ needs through comprehensive support for SDH and legacy access as well the latest Carrier Ethernet services. As a result, AGC Netcom is pleased to distribute AEGIS-V solutions to the expanding Brazilian market.”

The President of Planex Telecomunicaciones, Marcelo Krimer, agreed, “We see the same trend in Argentina, the transition to fully converged networks is a must with the bandwidth growth fuelled by triple-play and emerging 3G/4G wireless services. During the shift to all-packet service delivery, local operators will continue to require coexisting TDM and IP networks for several years. Aethera Networks’ products are very competitive with support for both SDH and Carrier Ethernet in a single platform.”

Eduardo Martinez, President of Melcox Uruguay added, “Aethera Networks’ product line will complement Melcox’s current offerings, enabling us to provide complete turn key multi-service access and metro networking solutions to our customers. Melcox is very satisfied to have reached an agreement with Aethera Networks to distribute their complete line of equipment and systems in Uruguay.”

With a range of MEF-certified Carrier Ethernet products, Aethera Networks is an active member of the Metro Ethernet Forum, and will be sponsoring and participating in the upcoming MEF member’s meeting in Montreal, July 30th-August 2nd.
