I've had several discussions with folks at Acme Packet over the past few months. Most recent was my Realtime Unified Communications Podcast Chat with Acme Packets Marketing Leaders last week. Congrats to Acme Packet on their continued growth and leadership.

Acme Packet Receives MassNetComms Awards for Company of the Year and Fastest Growth in 2006

BURLINGTON, MA, APRIL 9, 2007— Acme Packet® (NASDAQ: APKT), the leader in session border control solutions, today announced that the Massachusetts Network Communications Council (MassNetComms) honored Acme Packet with two awards at its annual awards ceremony held on April 4th at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, MA. Andy Ory, the company’s president and CEO, accepted the awards for Acme Packet. Acme Packet was recognized as Public Company of the Year as well as Fastest Growth in Massachusetts for 2006.

As noted by MassNetComms’ award descriptions, “Acme Packet had one of the most successful IPO’s in recent Massachusetts history. It grew substantially in every way last year. Revenues jumped from $36 million to $84 million year-over-year and net income went from zero to $29 million. The company added over one hundred customers and employment growth in Massachusetts was equally dramatic—a 44 percent jump in 2006. It now employs over 250 in 20 countries and serves nearly three-quarters of the top 100 service providers in the world.”

“Massachusetts network communications companies enjoy a long tradition of excellence in both the national and global arenas,” stated Mark Horan, Executive Director for MassNetComms. “The Company of the Year award recognizes the ‘best of the best’ and is awarded to a company that combines leading-edge technology, far-reaching vision, exceptional people, and marketing and sales ingenuity to achieve success.”

“Massachusetts is the ideal place to develop, build and operate great networking companies, given the support of a vibrant venture community, university system and wealth of talented individuals that live in the region,” declared Ory. “The ongoing support of organizations like MassNetComms is a testament to the richness of the area’s high-tech ecosystem. I am proud of our organization’s accomplishments in 2006, which have positioned us well for 2007.”
