Weekend Snippets and News
Here are just a few things that caught my eye over the weekend
Fixed-mobile convergence with VoIP will reduce corporate voice spend by 30%, says AnalysysI think it's way too early to say how much fiscal impact FMC will have on corporate spending. Ludicrous to even stick a number on it. But, it will push the trend to reducing costs. Nobody argues with that point.
Fixed-mobile convergence combined with VoIP will allow corporate customers to reduce their voice spend by over 30%, according to a new report, Fixed-Mobile Convergence in the Enterprise Voice Market, published by Analysys.

VoIP industry will survive Vonage rulingNews feeds and blogs were pretty saturated with Verizon vs. Vonage lawsuit stories. Lots of flapping about and not a lot of substance, but there's still plenty of action ahead on this front.
Analysts: Verizon's court victory won't hurt Skype and other VoIP players
The ruling that Vonage must pay Verizon tens of millions of dollars for patent infringement should not deter other VoIP providers from staying the course.
Indeed, analysts say the ruling – in which Vonage was found to have infringed on three of five Verizon patents for provisioning VoIP, costing Vonage $58 million and 5.5% of sales in future royalties – is a step in the maturation of the VoIP market.
If logistics hold on course, my friend Jon Arnold and I will be talking about this issue on Wednesday for an upcoming podcast.
I follow the news feeds, but if you've noticed, I haven't been posting links to stories like this as often lately. That's in part because one source, Technorati, has become utterly useless for following subjects like VoIP or unified communications. People have figured out how to game the system with keywords, so my feeds filled with unrelated and useless information. That's left me with the industry sources I follow and the standard news feeds. They're a resource, but often predicatable and soreadily accessible that I try not to just repeat them here.
