Spring 2007 VON, SAN JOSE, CA — March 22, 2007 — Veraz Networks, Inc. and Acme Packet® (NASDAQ: APKT) announced today that Acme Packet has been certified as a ‘Deployment-ready’ member of the Veraz Open Solutions Alliance (VOSA). Acme Packet’s Net-NetÒ session border controllers (SBCs) have successfully completed interoperability testing with Veraz’s ControlSwitch softswitch and I-Gate 4000 media gateway family. These offerings are deployed together in multiple live networks around the world including Bezeq International.
“With the Veraz VOSA partnership program, we can readily offer our customers solutions that are already interoperable to meet their growing needs,” said Francesca Puggioni, Head Corporate Business Development in Veraz Networks. “Partnering with Acme Packet allows us to provide a flexible solution for delivering enhanced security and control functions to our customers.”
The Veraz platform consists of the ControlSwitch and I-Gate 4000 family of media gateways and management systems. It is a highly scalable, programmable Voice over IP switch and IMS-compatible solution that allows service providers to cost-effectively deploy new converged voice and multimedia services while they migrate to an IP-based infrastructure. The Veraz management system included within the ControlSwitch has been leveraged for integrated fault, configuration, and accounting management of the combined Veraz and Acme Packet solution.
Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs combine purpose-built hardware with high-quality session border control features that together deliver carrier-class scalability, performance and reliability. Supporting multiple protocols and multiple applications, the Net-Net SBCs provide critical control functions at both access and interconnect borders, satisfying requirements in five major areas: security, service reach maximization, SLA assurance, revenue and profit protection and regulatory compliance. By deploying Veraz’s platform together with Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBC, service providers will be able to more easily and quickly deploy advanced IP-based services to subscribers with the assurance that traffic is carried over secure, high quality networks.
“The interoperability certification of our Net-Net session border controllers with Veraz’s ControlSwitch and I-Gate 4000 media gateways alleviates the challenge of rapidly getting to commercial production services,” said Seamus Hourihan, vice president of marketing and product management of Acme Packet. “Veraz’s IP softswitches and media gateways combined with our carrier-class SBCs gives service providers a deployable solution for advanced IP interactive communication services.”
