In their fourth quarter 2006 reports on the service provider VoIP equipment market, both firms showed Acme Packet as the leading session border controller vendor with market share over two times that of its closest competitor.
Infonetics Research reported that Acme Packet achieved 50% market share based on 2006 revenue. “Session border controllers have become a critical component of IP networks as service providers look to deliver more advanced, premium IP communication services,” noted Stéphane Téral, Principal Analyst with Infonetics Research. “Acme Packet’s success stems from its leadership across many product dimensions, including signaling protocol breadth, feature depth, performance, capacity, manageability and configuration flexibility.”
“Acme Packet established the session border control market in 2002 when we first announced our products, and we have been the leading driving force behind it ever since. We believe our growing market share to date is attributable to our customer focus and dedication to improving our session border control solutions through innovative design and development,” said Andy Ory, president, CEO and co-founder of Acme Packet. “These reports by leading research firms are strong indicators that we are moving in the right direction and are meeting the demands of our customers around the globe.”
