A Cisco win at Hotel 1000

Dal caught my eye with this post yesterday

Hotel 1000 Elevates Guest Experience to New Heights With Cisco Unified Communications

Cisco announced today that Hotel 1000 in Seattle has installed the Cisco Unified Communications system to provide superior personalized and customized guest services, creating a more comfortable and enjoyable hotel experience. The Cisco Connected Hotel capabilities throughout the property will help enable the hotel to quickly and easily deploy new services — not only now but also in the future as other technologies and applications emerge.

It caught my eye for a couple of reasons. Hotel 1000 in Seattle isn't far away. It occurs to me I might talk to folks up there and do an on sight walk-through, interview, podcast and video of this Ciso solution. And, it's a Cisco win that isn't so ginormous that nobody can figure out what it really means.

I started with the Cisco press release for myself (by the way, I detest the latest Cisco logo. It was a professional logo with class, now it looks like it belongs on something in Toys 'R' Us)

There's a nice sideline link to a very well-done video -  The Connected Hotel

SAN JOSE, Calif., October 31, 2006 - Cisco®, Inc. announced today that Hotel 1000 in Seattle has installed the Cisco Unified Communications system to provide superior personalized and customized guest services, creating a more comfortable and enjoyable hotel experience. The Cisco Connected Hotel capabilities throughout the property will help enable the hotel to quickly and easily deploy new services - not only now but also in the future as other technologies and applications emerge.
Hotel 1000 doesn't talk about the project on their web site, but we wouldn't expect them too. They're in the luxury hotel business and don't want to expose their clientele to the inner workings. They're about provide top-notch service that is, in their words, distinctive in 1000 ways.

I just tried calling and missed their IT director. Since I know several Cisco account team folks in the area, I'm going to make some calls and see if I can make a connection to dig into this deployment just a bit deeper and peel back the layers to see what makes it a big success.
