I'm nowhere near Astricon, but here's a news release from the show.

NetLogic, a leading provider of Business-Class VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) and Internet services, today announced the creation of its “PBX-Preferred” Certification program.  NetLogic’s initial PBX-Preferred Certifications recognize Asterisk-based software and systems; hence the Company announced its new program in conjunction with AstriCon 2006, the Asterisk Conference and Exhibition in Dallas, October 24 – 27, 2006.

NetLogic® Announces PBX-Preferred Certification Program

St. Louis, MO (October 24, 2006) – NetLogic, a leading provider of Business-Class VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) and Internet services, today announced the creation of its “PBX-Preferred” Certification program. NetLogic’s initial PBX-Preferred Certifications recognize Asterisk-based software and systems; hence the Company announced its new program in conjunction with AstriCon 2006, the Asterisk Conference and Exhibition in Dallas, October 24 – 27, 2006.

The following IPBX systems have earned PBX-Preferred Certifications: PBXtra™ Standard and PBXtra Call Center from Fonality; Switchvox SOHO and Switchvox SMB; and Digium’s Asterisk Appliance. IPBX software earning the NetLogic PBX-Preferred Certification include: Digium’s Asterisk Business Edition; Asterisk; and Free PBX.

The NetLogic PBX-Preferred Certification program is based on rigorous testing of applicable IPBX software and systems, which includes:

  • Bench testing to ensure proper SIP trunk connectivity and quality.
  • Beta testing in the field with actual business users over NetLogic SIP trunks.
  • Implementing in a “general availability” environment with NetLogic SIP trunks.
NetLogic through its VoIP Choice™ product utilizes Quality of Service-based SIP trunks to provide business-class voice service. SIP trunks avoid the conversion between IP and traditional phone protocols. In many IP phone system implementations, calls are converted from the phone service provider’s network to the local IP network. This conversion point is often a source for echo and static. SIP trunks eliminate that conversion, thereby controlling the call end to end. This ability to control the entire connection creates a higher quality and more reliable VoIP service.

Earlier this month, Switchvox certified NetLogic’s VoIP Choice to work with its Asterisk-based systems. “NetLogic provides and manages both data and voice together, which results in superior quality of service,” said Joshua Stephens, CEO of Switchvox.

In July, NetLogic was named a Digium Service Partner. Mark Spencer, president of Digium and creator of Asterisk said, “By certifying NetLogic’s VoIP product with Asterisk Business Edition, we can ensure a positive VoIP experience to our combined customers.”
