SightSpeed 6.0 does recording
One new feature of SightSpeed 6.0 hasn't gotten the press it warrants. I have a personal vested interest in this feature, because it's something I've been talking with the fabulous SightSpeed team about for months - the ability to record and export a call.
This morning I had a chance to grab SightSpeed CEO Peter Csathy online and record a frst interview of our conversation. I exported as MPEG video abd put it up on blip.tv for sharing.
The call ends oddly due to a technical glitch on my end. We did reconnect and record more, but I haven't figured out how to edit and splice multiple MPEG/Flash videos very well and I didn't like the results. So this is most of our call, but not all.
This enhancement heralds a new era for people who do lots of interviews like I do. Now not only are podcasts an options, but real embedded video can be easily included in blog posts and writeups.
That points out to me, not just the value of blogs, podcasts and videos. For companies like SightSpeed, who engage directly with the online tech sector, this brings a new tool in speed to market with information. I'll never claim this is traditional journalism, but the ability to, from the desktop, hold a video call, learn about something new and exciting, and have that online for everyone quickly is a big new thing.
SightSpeed made huge advances in the 6.0 release. It's now fully SIP for interoperability. That opens a lot of new doors. The UI has been redesigned and revamped for aesthetic appeal and ease of use. These are big moves.
I've been a SightSpeed fan for a long time - even an evangelist. And they continue to come through at every step along the way.
There's other big news in the wind - really big news - that I'll tell you more about tomorrow. It's in the second portion of the video call with Peter, and I promised not sure share early.
SightSpeed is truly revolutionizing voice and video calling. They're shaping new ways to use video as a tool for interactive conversation, for video mail, for use in blogs and web pages, and as a catalyst for community efforts.
Kudos to Peter and the SightSpeed team for their great work on this new release.
