DigiLinea Expansion in Honduras
I posted a press release about DigiLinea here recently when they announced a turnkey solution for US Hispanic and Latin American markets. Because I'm on their regular mailing distribution, today I got notice of ongoing expansion and build out to suppor Honduras as their growth continues.
DIGILINEA CONTINUES BUILD OUT OF US HISPANIC AND LATIN AMERICAN PAN REGIONAL VOIP NETWORK ANNOUNCING THE GRANTING OF HONDURAN TELECOMMUNICATIONS LICENSE.
Doral, FL, May 20, 2006 - DigiLinea (www.DigiLinea.com), the leading Voice over IP (VoIP) infrastructure and service provider to the US Hispanic and Latin American markets, announced today that they have been granted a Telecommunications license to provide services and local telephone numbering in Honduras.
With well over half a million immigrants from Honduras in the US, and Honduras being the second most expensive calling destination after Cuba in the western hemisphere the granting of a Honduran Telecommunications license is an important step in the build out of the DigiLinea Latin American pan regional VoIP platform. As DigiLinea’s focus is on linking the US Hispanic market with their home countries, Honduras, which represents roughly 500M minutes of international calling traffic and 3% of all outbound international calling from the US to Latin America, is an important country for DigiLinea to be able to provide VoIP services.
As DigiLinea continues to focus on the unique needs of the US Hispanic market, vertical integration into Central America, the 2nd largest US Hispanic market after Mexico makes perfect sense. "As we understand the unique needs of the US Hispanic market, and are vertically integrated into many Latin American countries by owning local telecom licenses, we can offer products and services that fit the specific needs of the US Hispanic community" said Gregory Keough, CEO of DigiLinea. "The US Hispanic market doesn’t want unlimited calling in the US but local telephone numbers from their home countries and unlimited inbound and outbound calling to their home countries where they spend most of their telecom dollars, DigiLinea is in a unique position to provide these service due to our local Latin American licenses, Spanish customer and technical support facilities, and a greater understanding of the US Hispanic market all of which form serious barriers to entry for both incumbents and other VoIP providers to provide me too products and services. DigiLinea is the only major VoIP player that is vertically integrated into Latin America with the ability to assign local telephone numbers from across the region and with local licenses to provide the VoIP products and services to Hispanics in the US and within Latin America on a legal basis."
