O'Reilly ETel Telephony Mashup Contest - And the winners are
If you were following the ETel conference, or there. you know that the
audience chose the winner of the First Ever Telephony Mashup Contest (
Contest URL: http://www.strikeiron.com/developers/contest.aspx . Finalist URL: http://www.strikeiron.com/developers/contest_finalists.aspx).
Out of a total of 19 entries, 3 were chosen to present at ETel. Each
finalist was given 5 minutes to demo their voice application and
convince the audience that theirs was the best Telephony Mashup of
2007. The prize money is $1500 for first place, $1000 for second prize,
and $500 for third prize.
Requirements for Telephony Mashup:
- Uses Telephony Infrastructure (ex: IP PBX, IVR, VoiceXML, SMS, etc.)
- Uses Multiple Services or Content Sources
- Possible for Others to Recreate the mashup
Note: Initial note I got had #2 and #3 reversed. Fixed here as soon as they told me of the flipflop.

office voice mail left by patients for doctors, into text, which is
then sent via SMS to the doctor
Second place - RoboCal - by Ted Gilchrist of Botcast Network - using 30 Boxes & Google Calendar - http://www.robocal.com - Enables users to listen to events listed in 30 Boxes or Google Calendar. Can also save voice messages to your calendar
Third place - FishLign - by Claire Umeda & Dharmesh Desai of LignUp
- using Strikeiron Driving Directions & LignUp Recording, TTS &
Personalization to perform Click2Call and customize a users web and
voice experience.
