N93 as a podcasting tool? Absolutely

I confess, I sometimes proble into the more esoteric uses of the Nokia N-series phones. The QuickOffice application on the N73 and N93 has a voice recorder function. It's simple. You press record and talk into the phone.

I didn't see a way to get to the native file on the N93, but was curious, so I recorded a simple test and emailed it to my VoX blog. You can see and hear the results here.

So yes, in a pinch, you could use a Nokia N73 or N93, and probably the N80i as well, to record a pocast and email it anywhere you want via the POP3 email client. I did this one over Cingular's MEdianet, not WiFi. For a large audio file on the memory card, you'd obviously want WiFi.

Interesting that the built in LifeBlog software doesn't support sending sound clips. If it did, it woul dbe even easier to update any blog that you can support with LifeBlog. VOX supports simply emailing the attachment, so that's what I did. And that approach would work with any blog platform that lets you email audio files for automated posting. I know I've seen plugins that can handle that sort of thing here and there.

It's not something I'm likely to probe deeply in to, but another intriguing possibility as we watch Nokia lead the way in handset functionality.
