Nortel and Telus to Deliver IPTV

It's all about synergy and coincidence. The VON conference this week has been pretty oriented toward video and IPTV. AT&T announced their video product pitch. Video's all the rage.

Tonight I was talking on Skype with my friend Doug, and he said Telus has made some big announcements the last few days about spending something like $700M to bring fiber closer to the curb in 22 communities. And they're going to offer IPTV in those regions. Doug gave me this link to the story. Thanks Doug!

Nortel, Telus announce internet protocol TV partnership

Nortel announced a partnership with Telus on Tuesday to develop a digital television and entertainment service to be delivered over the internet.

Ibrahim Gedeon, Telus's chief technology officer, said the two companies are working on a project called the "Future Friendly Home," which will include internet-based television among its services.

Nortel is giving an internet protocol television demonstration at the Broadband World Forum in Vancouver this week. Telus is the host sponsor of the event.
