Spreading the word on a career opportunity

I got an email note about a VoIP career opportunity today. I've posted it within the community, but in order to spread the word, I'm sharing it here also.

Spohn Consulting provides a range of services for customers in the LAN/WAN environments. Our main product offerings are comprehensive network analysis focusing on maximizing packet throughput, network utilization, and Convergence.

The position of VoIP Network Consultant encompasses:
·       Consulting for outside customers
·       Network Analysis
·       VoIP Telephony Readiness Analysis
·       Telecom Strategy Development
·       Report and documentation generation
·       Independent work
·       Advising customers


Major Responsibilities: ·     

                        Network Assessments – assess and advise clients on how to optimize their network; e.g., LAN/WAN;

    ·       identify and remove bottlenecks; improve bandwidth utilization; implement more efficient management and maintenance.

    ·       Telecom Strategy Development – determines appropriate voice and data architecture strategy considering current and anticipated needs as well as evolving technology such as VoIP, IPT, and MPLS.  Attention to people-process-tools of physical and logical network along with operational elements.

    ·       IP Telephony Readiness Assessment – ensures cost-effective migration to a converged network solution while minimizing operational risk. Considers current investment, readiness to support VoIP traffic and performance; configuration; interoperability; etc

    ·       Configure and install networking devices including servers, switches, routers, Firewalls, IDS.

    ·       Perform other duties as required by company operations.

       
Regular Duties: Primarily responsible for performing security services work for outside customers from the line of Spohn Network Consulting offerings.

    ·       Engage customers
    ·       Run tools
    ·       Conduct interviews
    ·       Gather data
    ·       Analyze results
    ·       Document results
    ·       Present results
    ·       Support further product development
    ·       Support collateral development
    ·       Support sales calls

 

Projects:       Periodically perform various projects such as

    ·       Statement of work development
    ·       Product development
    ·       Automation of process used in completing security services

Job Requirements:       ·       Bachelors Degree Preferred  No specific degree Associates degree with commensurate experience would be considered
·       Must have a CCNA certification. 
·       Able to formulate, understand and communicate abstract concepts
·       Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
·       Working knowledge of SNMP

    ·       Working knowledge of Voice Over IP

    ·       Working knowledge of TCP, UDP, DNS, ICMP

    ·       Working Knowledge of Solar Winds Network Analysis Tools (Preferred)

    ·       Experience with Vivinet VoIP assessor
    ·       Ability to develop processes to conduct and document assessments
    ·       Must work daily from the Austin office
    ·       Must be willing to travel (we have designed our product to require between 1/10th and 1/3rd Onsite work.  The remainder of the work will be performed form our offices.  This should translate to 10-30% travel.  However, the candidate must be prepared to travel more if necessary. 
    Desired Majors: Electrical and Computer Engineering    
    Desired Certifications: CCNA, CCNP,CCVP

Ken Camp has more than 25 years of experience in information technology. Ken spent 17 years with AT&T and Lucent Technologies successfully designing and implementing voice and data networks. He later worked in the security marketplace and played a key role in early IPSec VPN deployments.
