Vonage Troubles Continue

There's no end in sight for Vonage's woes. I expect it will get worse before it gets better.

Vonage Sued Over Voicemail Patent

Vonage Holdings Corp. (NYSE: VG ) learned Monday that it’s facing a second patent infringement lawsuit in less than a month, this time a $180 million complaint concerning voicemail technology. (See Klausner Sues Vonage.)

Klausner Technologies Inc., which holds some 25 technology patents worldwide, is bringing the suit. Klausner's attorney Greg Dovel describes his client as "primarily a holder of patents." The suit was filed in federal court in the Eastern District of Texas.

Vonage's stock is running well below it's IPO value today. About $7.40 when the bell rang yesterday. I don't see light at the end of the tunnel for Vonage. If they think things look bleak now, just wait. I fear it's going to get a lot worse before it improves. I know many people see them innovating and doing great things. I disagree. I still think they resell dial tone cheap without really bringing any of the great advances of VoIP technologies to bear. I think they're going to bleed and suffer and eventually get bought up for pennies on the dollar myself.
