Maxis awards Nortel migration to VoIP contract - Speaking of Nortel

I'm pointing this out for a reason, so bear with me.

Maxis awards Nortel migration to VoIP contract

Maxis
Communications Bhd has awarded Nortel to manage the migration to a Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) next generation network for its fixed network operation.

Nortel said the network would help Maxis to reduce operating costs and create new sources of revenue by providing its enterprise customers with advanced voice, data and SIP-based (Session Initiation Protocol) multimedia services like video-conferencing, multimedia collaboration and personalised call management.
It made me think. I've been seeing little blurbs like this a lot lately. Nortel always hits the news and gets a lot of coverage when their earnings estimates are out of whack. Ok, that's happened a bit too often. Nortel certainly hasn't been without problems.

But, Nortel is winning business - a lot of business. Consistent, successful bids won. In the telecom business, you don't win contracts if you aren't delivering, so we can infer that Nortel's probably delivering on what they say they'll do.

Don't discount Nortel.
